Britta Krause grew up in Offenbach and London. She studied filmmaking at NYU Film School/Tisch School of the Arts and LFS London, where she graduated with distinction in scriptwriting in 1994. She has been living as a writer, director and script editor in Berlin since 1995.

Her short Fünf Minuten premiered at the Biennale Venice in 1998, won several festival awards and was screened as the official supporting short film of Run, Lola, Run across German cinemas. In 2001 she wrote and directed the television comedy Family Dog. She then returned to the short format by directing commercials for clients from Germany, Austria, Russia, South Africa, Portugal and Italy including clients like Fielmann, Ikea, McDonald’s, Microsoft and Postbank.

In 2007, Britta worked as an acting coach along side Shirin Neshat on Women without Men (Silver Lion/ Best director Venezia 2009). Since 2012, she has worked internationally as a script consultant with other writers and directors. Additionally she has been coaching young screen writers as a script editing tutor for Kultburo, Moscow, Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and the Nipkow Programm, Berlin.
